Colson, the Miami based company that manufactured tabletop fire pits is facing multiple lawsuits from customers who suffered severe burns due to flame jetting, a dangerous phenomenon where flammable liquid ignites and causes explosive flames. One victim, Kayla Hominski, was burned on over 40% of her body and underwent multiple surgeries. Since then, the company has issued a recall and shut down its website.
“Flame jetting is not something people are familiar with. It’s an absolutely horrific situation, because it can burn somebody to death in a matter of seconds,” stated Stuart Ratzan, who is representing several victims.
