Ratzan Weissman & Boldt (RWB), a premier trial firm based in Miami, Florida, is expanding its team with the addition of attorney Brooke M. Mesner. Ms. Mesner will focus her practice on high-stakes, national appellate work involving commercial disputes, medical malpractice, products liability, litigation involving big tobacco companies, and cases involving catastrophic loss and wrongful death.
Ms. Mesner previously served as a law clerk for the Boldt Law Firm prior to the Firm’s merger with RWB in 2020. During her time as a law clerk, Ms. Mesner assisted with some of the Firm’s most high-stakes matters, including a case against R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Co. and Philip Morris USA Inc. While in law school, she also worked under one of South Florida’s most respected capital public defenders and represented clients in death penalty cases.
“Having worked with Brooke since she was in law school, we have had the opportunity to watch her grow as an attorney and hone her skills. We are pleased to welcome her to RWB and look forward to her continued contributions to our firm,” said Kimberly Boldt, Partner at RWB. Boldt leads the firm’s appellate practice, which has expanded over the last year. In addition to handling appeals for RWB cases, the team is often hired by other reputable trial firms from across the state and country, who engage them from the onset of their cases.
Outside of the Firm, Ms. Mesner is a member of the Innocence Project, the leading nonprofit organization for criminal justice reform, where she volunteers her time assessing which cases should be accepted into the program.
Ms. Mesner earned her J.D. from the University of Miami School of Law and was awarded a dean-merit scholarship for all three years. Her studies were focused on personal injury, complex litigation, business torts, and constitutional law.
She graduated from San Diego State University with a double major in Political Science and Criminal Justice. While in college, she also served as an intern investigator for the San Diego Public Defenders office, juvenile division.
Ms. Mesner is a member of the Appellate Practice Section of The Florida Bar and the American Association for Justice (AAJ).
