Stuart Weissman, 43, a beloved husband, father, friend, trial lawyer, and community leader, passed away on January 8, 2026, after a valiant two-and-a-half-year battle with cancer. Stuart fought cancer until his very last breath with the grit and determination of a champion. Stuart was born in Tampa, Florida, on September 29, 1982.
Stuart attended Berkeley Prep School in Tampa from kindergarten through high school, where he graduated in 2001. He was an excellent student and a starting second baseman on the varsity baseball team. He did his undergraduate studies at the University of Michigan, where he graduated in 2005. He truly loved the Michigan Wolverines! Stuart met and fell in love with his soon to be fiancé and wife, Ashley Beckwith, in college. After graduation, he attended Stetson Law School, where he excelled and won the National Moot Court Competition in Austin, Texas. After graduation in 2008, he and Ashley moved to Miami where Stu began his professional career after attorney Stuart Ratzan hired Stu as a first year associate.
Within a few years, Stu and Ashley were married and soon after that began their family together on Miami Beach where they joined Temple Beth Sholom and made scores of close friends.
As an authentic and courageous trial lawyer, Stu excelled in the practice of law, rising the ranks and ultimately becoming a partner and then a named partner at Ratzan Weissman & Boldt. As a young lawyer, he was trial counsel in some of the most significant jury verdicts and pre verdict settlements across Florida and across the country. At the time of his passing, Stu was the current president of the Miami Dade Bar, the largest voluntary bar association in the State of Florida. He was a warrior for justice, believing passionately in the power of trial lawyers to make a difference in our everyday lives. The lawyers and staff at the firm, along with so many people in the legal community, loved him dearly.
Stu loved spending time with his family, playing golf, exercising, and traveling. His wife and children meant the world to him. An avid sports fan, he continued to follow his beloved Wolverines.
Stu is survived by his wife, Ashley, children, Emma. (12), Joey Brooke (10), and Luke (6), his parents, Aida and Charles Weissman, brother Richard (Danielle) Weissman, Sister Karie (Stephen) Swindal, in laws Debbie and Richard Beckwith, sister in law Jordyn Lipton, bother in law Brad Beckwith, and loving nieces, nephews, and cousins. He had dozens of adoring friends from all stages of his young life, all of whom he cherished.
A service honored Stuart on Monday, January 12, 2026, at 10:00 am at Temple Beth Sholom, 4144 Chase Avenue, Miami Beach, FL 33140 with internment following at Mount Sinai Memorial Park Cemetery, 1125 N.W. 137th St., Miami, FL 33168. Shiva was observed at Temple Beth Sholom on Monday, January 12, 2026, from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. and Tuesday, January 13, 2026, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.
